Peer Mentoring Circles offer a less intensive but highly engaging and effective version of our Learning Academies. The program consists of six to eight half-day monthly sessions that provide participants with opportunities to learn from the experiences of recognized leaders and their peers in the form of structured discussions and small-group coaching.
At each session, participants hear from a panel of seasoned leaders on thought-provoking topics relevant to business competencies, organizational culture and values, and individual career development. They then adjourn into peer groups led by seasoned coaches, where they share knowledge, hear others’ perspectives, learn new skills, and participate in meaningful discussions. Over the course of the program, participants develop stronger leadership capacity and competencies, learn effective peer-mentoring skills, and cultivate a community of peers with whom to explore ideas, share resources and opportunities, and gain support and honest feedback.
“This has been one of the most valuable experiences that I have had. It has allowed me to identify benchmarks for my personal and professional life. I was able to create a formal mentoring relationship with a senior executive as well as informal mentoring relationships with my seven peers, each of whom has something to teach me!”
“Here’s why I would recommend Cheryl Alexander’s peer mentoring program:
The cohort builds real camaraderie (a true relationship peer group) and a real network (they are asked to meet with each other between sessions).
The executives love the program because they are turning around and using the material and learnings with their teams (the knowledge multiplies).
It grows commitment/engagement with the company, gives exposure and visibility to the two populations that need to interact most (executives and diverse talent with leadership potential) in order to grow diversity at higher levels in the organization.
This program gives the participants common language and tools with an experienced facilitator who understands and even leverages the cultural dynamics. The structured approach gives participants a sense of shared accomplishment and tools & knowledge that are valued in the business culture.”
“I have made many connections in the [MBA program] mentor circles that I know will grow into lasting friendships and network contacts. I was able to gain intimate insights and talk openly about real issues in the workplace that I could have nowhere else. I gained confidence and self-assurance through what I learned and was able to discuss in the large and small group sessions.”
